The Journey : Chapter 1: When It All Started
Title :THE JOURNEY
Introduction
"At just six years old, Anne's world shattered — the loss of her mother marked the beginning of her misery."
Anne was only six years old when her biological mother died. That was the moment her misery began. The funeral was a blur of black clothes and whispered voices, the heavy scent of lilies clinging to the air. She clung to her grandmother's hand, her small fingers trembling, as if holding on tightly enough might keep her from being swept away by grief.
Taken in by her grandmother on her mother's side, Anne's life seemed to be starting a new battle. Soon after the funeral, her father and his family came, hoping to claim her. But they were turned away. "You cannot take that child," her grandmother declared firmly. Those words cut deep. Losing her mother after only a few short years together was already unbearable, but now she was deprived of her father's love too.
Anne didn't understand the feud between families. She only knew that she wanted both sides, both halves of her world. But the adults had made their decision, and she was left standing in the middle of a war she could not comprehend.
A year later, tragedy struck again — her father passed away. Another leaf had fallen from the tree of life, another body embraced by the soil. Anne was left alone, facing the world as it came.
She prayed it was all a dream. At night, she whispered to herself: "Mama is only sleeping. Papa will come back." She visited her mother's grave often, imagining she had only fallen into a deep sleep. She stood in anticipation, waiting for the day her mother would wake up and say, "I'm back again." But reality was unrelenting.
Yet even in sorrow, Anne shone. Bright, intelligent, and adored by many, she excelled in school. She was that little pumpkin everyone cherished, her smile a fragile light in the darkness. But as she grew, the emptiness left by her parents only widened. The suffocating vacuum of loss pressed harder each year. How could a child lose both parents in two consecutive years?
She did not know then that the feud between her mother's and father's families would become a shadow stretching across her life, shaping choices she had yet to make. Nor did she realize that her resilience — the spark that kept her smiling — would be tested in ways she could never imagine.
Years passed, and Anne's true life began. This is how her story unfolded.
"Her childhood was marked by loss, but her spirit refused to break. Yet even as she smiled, the emptiness grew, and the feud whispered promises of battles yet to come. This was only the beginning of Anne's journey — a story of love, betrayal, and resilience that would test her in ways she could never imagine."
